Tips for Choosing Your Wedding Color Palette

When planning a wedding, there seem to be an innumerable amount of decisions that have to be made. Some big, some small. Some exciting, some dull. It can all be overwhelming. One of these decisions is choosing the color palette. Making this choice affects not only the decor and attire, but also the photographer, desserts, and overall guest experience. Talk about daunting. My goal is to give some tips and inspiration to make the experience of choosing your color palette more enjoyable.

Tip 1:

Choose a color palette based on your surroundings. By looking at your venue and/or the scenery, you can glean some insight on the best colors for your day. Here’s an example:

Tip 2:

Choose a color palette based on the season. Whatever season you are getting married in can have a huge impact on the colors you choose. This is a great way to narrow down your options.

Tip 3:

Choose a color palette that reflects the overall vibe you want. Your color palette lets guests know what to expect the moment they walk into the venue. Make sure it’s saying what you want it to.

Tip 4:

Above all else, choose a color palette that’s YOU! There is a tendency to go with whatever is trending at the moment. And while we love a good trend, experience tells us they change so quickly so make sure you’re choosing a color palette that truly reflects both of your personalities. Whether it’s based on cultural traditions that are important to you, your casual personalities, or your fun spirit, you want to be able to look back in 10 years and see yourselves in the design.
