Top 6 Wedding Planner Myths
What is the first thing that pops in your head when you think of a wedding planner?
If you had images of Jennifer Lopez wearing a headset and a fanny pack while dressed like the cutest business woman on the planet, you aren’t alone! I think that the title “Wedding Planner” brings several thoughts to people’s minds, but I also think that a lot of them probably are a little far from the truth. So allow me to bust some of those myths about wedding planners and hopefully you come to the end of this with a better understanding of what we do and how we can help bring your wedding to the next level.
Myth 1: Wedding Planners are too expensive
Here at Jane Rae Events, we offer a variety of services to fit almost any brides needs. If you are looking for help in planning and the whole works, we’ve got you! Or if you are looking to just rent some items to bring your vision to life, we have got you too. We are happy to meet one on one with any couple so that they can get a customized proposal based on what they specifically need.
Myth 2: Wedding Planners all look and dress like J-Lo
I WISH! But let me be real, we are busting our booties on event days making sure that everything is in place; and as much as I would love to tell you we can do that in 3 inch heels...we don’t. But we do come prepared, so you will see us in our tennis shoes toting our tool box so we can hang, tape and zip tie the day into perfection. (And if you need a safety pin, we have those too)
Myth 3: Wedding planners are going to take over your day with their ideas
This is YOUR day, and nothing is going to change that. We definitely get excited about coming up with ideas to help support the theme of the day or things that are uniquely you. But please know that you have the final say. We love that all of our couples are individuals and we will do anything we can to bring your ideas to life.
Myth 4: Wedding Planners are super organized in their personal lives
I will say, there is probably some truth to this, organization comes pretty naturally. However, during peak season I think that our spouses and partners could agree that we are definitely NOT organized at home. Teamwork makes the dream work when it comes to maintaining sanity during the summer. :) We tend to be so busy keeping track of all of our awesome weddings that we tend to lose sight of the ever growing laundry pile or the lack of groceries in the house. So, shoutout to our amazing hubbys and boyfriends who help us keep it together at home!
Myth 5: Wedding Planners don’t care about saving you money
We absolutely want you to get the best bang for your buck! In fact, one of the services we offer is help managing your wedding budget. At the end of the day we want you to celebrate your wedding without feeling overly stressed about going over budget. So if there are things that we can do to make that easier, we want to! We will make adjustments up until the last 10 days prior to your wedding to make sure you aren’t paying for centerpieces that won’t be used. Always feel free to let us know how you are feeling about your budget so we can work with you to make you feel comfortable.
Myth 6: A Wedding Planner is the same as a Venue Coordinator
Venue coordinators are amazing and we are super thankful to work in Sioux Falls with so many amazing Venue coordinators. But there are some big differences between our roles. The Venue coordinator will help you with things like making sure you get the date that you want or letting you know what kinds of tables they have on sight and helping if they have an on-sight bar. However, when it comes to the rest of the details, that’s where we come in. We will work with your venue coordinator and the rest of your vendors to create a seamless day of schedule and make sure that decorations are set-up and torn down at the end of the day.
In general, if you have questions about what we do or how we can help you in planning your wedding just reach out and let us know. We would love to set up a meeting and learn more about you! (I promise you’ll have fun!) Hopefully you feel like you have a little better picture of what we do, and don’t do (J-Lo heels) :) Hope to see you soon and get to planning your big day!
