The Best and Worst of Wedding Trends

Let me tell you a little bit about how I feel about trends. Love it that they are always changing & bring a fresh feel to the event world & to the creatives as a whole. But oh my goodness girl, there are some trends that just give me the willies. Some are just TOO TRENDY & can really date your wedding or just make people uncomfortable (yikes). Let’s all make a pact to never bring some of these bad babies back.

Please no, no, & another no. Why was this ever a thing?!

Okay, one of the best movies ever - but let’s put your ladies in something a tad bit more flattering.

Okay wedding party (Best Man I’m pretty much talking to you), there’s a sweet way to give a “roast” at the reception, but let’s keep the R rated comments for the bach party.

I could go on & on with cringe worthy trends, but for the sake of not trying to offend everyone… I’ll end there. But let’s not do anymore mason jars.

Now, let me show you some trends that we want to really strive for this year. Come on ladies & gents, let’s dive into these together.

Love the moody vibes that a slip of black expresses. Don’t over do it, let’s just pop with it.

Wooohoo! Let’s light it up. Can’t wait to have a couple dive in for the neon sign. Buyers beware though… this might be overdone this year. But since we are SD we have quite a loooooooong trend season.

Well I could go on & on about trends but I want to leave you with a bit of advice. After being in the event business for 8 years now, I will tell you that bringing in a strong trend for your wedding will bring up this line one day: “Oh my gosh Mom, those were your colors?!”

Overall, I want your wedding day to be a reflection of you -  in a soft, but timeless way with a sprinkle of trendy. Afterall, trends reflect that moment in time & you never want to forget those moments from one of the best days of your life.

with love,

Katie Jane
